Just remembering back to tunes that on the first time of hearing you were blown away, Single was Surf's up by the Beach Boys, can still remember being in my van driving past Soho fire station and was blown away by the track. Album was The Yes album couldn't believe what I was hearing, any memories ?

Vienna by Ultravox. Was driving to work across Mitcham Common and just had to stop the car and listen. Was so different. Went out and bought the album and discovered everything else they did was cr*p!!!

I remember it went to number two in the charts, kept from number one by Rod Stewart's 'Baby Jane', which was a good song but not a classic like 'Vienna'.

Think it was kept off the top spot by Shuddup your face by Joe Dolce.

Makes it even harder to bear!

Welcome back by the way

Big Audio Dynamite - E=MC2 came on the radio the other day and made me realise how good it really is because it stands the test of time.

Partly right Tom . . .

The single was hugely successful. It spent four consecutive weeks at number two in the UK Singles Chart without ever getting to number one;[7] it was kept off the number one spot by John Lennon's "Woman" for a week,[8] and then by Joe Dolce's "Shaddap You Face", for a further three weeks.[9][10][11] "Vienna" is ranked as the fifth-best-selling UK single for 1981.[12][13] The single was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry in February 1981,[1] for UK sales exceeding 500,000 copies. It also won "Single of the Year" at the 1981 Brit Awards

Yes, i got that info from Wiki then copied n pasted it
