Great night, 52000 with 10000 locked outside- build the stand steve, and they will come! Luckily I witnessed proceedings from INSIDE the ground. The crowd was packed cheek to jowl and I am led to believe that some supporters in dire need of emptying their bladders had to urinate on to the terraces as they could not make it to the toilets due to the packed crowd.

I was there as a nine year old with my Grandad, who was a steward. An amazing experience that I still have impressions of today.

Made the hairs on arms/neck stand on end with that atmosphere. Got in by the skin of my teeth, late brother picked me up from Whitgift Ctr rode on back of his bike past everyone Queuing up outside the Whitehorse end to the turnstiles & managed to squeeze through & in. What. A. Night.

I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the semi v l'pool & as i lived in Northampton, it was easy to get to & i had no need to go down to Croydon. Would love to know/see what went on that day/night.

I got there early so was able to pick my spot on the Holmesdale. It was a very warm pleasant Spring evening. Although we dominated the game it was very tense until Walsh headed home. Had Burnley nicked a winner we would have remained in the 2nd Division. I had a quick pint in a pub in Croydon after the game with a mate and then had to get the train back to Brighton.
