I'm not tempting fate, we're not going down now. It's looking increasingly likely that Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United will be dropping down to the Championship. Some unbelievable bargains have been had from relegated sides in recent years, so who would you take this summer? For me Ademola Lookman, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Matheus Pereira would all be well worth looking at, though I appreciate that three of them are on loan from other clubs. Jayden Bogle as well if we didn't already have 15 right backs. Any advances on that quartet?

Not sure about RL-C. He's not hit the heights he did when he was on loan with us and in the England squad. Ampadu from Sheff U could be worth a go as might Berger but the latter is likely to move on to bigger things. Realistically, we could get Gallagher on loan, Lundstrom on a 'free' and possibly Ampadu. Much depends on whether Zaha goes (I think he will this time), how much we get for him and how much of the nett sale sum the club will be prepared to reinvest in new players. Sounds mad but I almost hope he does. I know that we're useless without him and there's a fair chance it will condemn us but I get a bit weary of this dance every summer of will he / won't he. He clearly wants to go and there are enough decent wingers around to hopefully unearth another prospect. Agree about RLC, hasn't quite hit the heights this season but I don't think Parker quite fancies him. Would hope that with him potentially more obtainable now he might find form again in familiar surroundings. Gallagher on loan is a must if we could pull it off.

I think Zaha has a difficult decision to make. Few if any clubs will meet his wage demands or even match his cirrent wages. Covid has changed the financial position and not only will we want a good transfer fee but the new club has to pay his wages. Arsenal are only possibility in EPL and they may not offer european football for Wilf. On plus side they have a few players that would interest us Maitland Niles, Willock for instance I think Pepe has also not fulfilled potential so he may be a carrot offered on loan with a right to buy. Guendouzi is another possible he has talent but a fragile temperament would he fit in ? On the relegated players Gallacher will be sold he will not get into Chelsea first team. Ampadu I think Chelsea will wait another season so possibly a loan. RLC if chelsea get an offer they will sell possibly for a low price with a hefty sell on clause. Depending on our management situation I think Lundstrom is almost a given as he suits our method of play and the work ethic we like from our players.

I can't see both Gallacher and RLC getting staying at Chelsea. They're both a cash in option for them, especially if they're going to try and fund Haaland. If they sell Bakayoko and Barkley, both likely, they may keep one. If we could pay for RLC & Gallacher with Zaha money, I'd take it, but I'm really not sure how many offers Zaha will have. 1) Zaha gets nowhere near the City team. He'd be a strange signing for Leicester - they tend to look abroad - but they're the only ones that could maybe do big money, European football and a need for a forward. He probably has to go somewhere in Europe, and they tend not to have as much cash unless they're a superpower who he'd struggle to play for. Gets nowhere near Bayern, PSG.... If we don't sell Zaha, we probably don't have a huge pick of the relegated players.

Zambo Anguissa at Fulham Pereira at West Brom are the main standouts to pay for with anyone else either can be obtained on loan or for low to nil (less than £10m) Pereira would be an upgrade on Townsend and I would argue is better than either Eze or Ayew so would vastly improve attacking play. I'd even go further to state that he could have the potential to be the new talisman when Zaha leaves. I say when because he should really be gone in the Summer. With 2 years left on contract, it's now peak for him to be sold, as doing it in Summer 2022 gets lesser money and Summer 2023 he'd be able to either go on a free or ask the world from Palace to stay. Best case scenario would be a huge fee incoming but an arguably better compromise would be a player or 2 plus cash deal. Personally I'd take Tammy Abraham and Conor Gallagher for Zaha, as solve quite a few problems for us... But I know this is a pipe dream scenario Edited by Mojo87 (13 Apr 2021 9.10pm)

I think if Hodgson stays then it’s best for us that Zaha stays as well. And that’s just because a winning team under Hodgson doesn’t happen much when Zaha is out. However, if we get a new manager in then I would be happy for Zaha to leave and the new manager use the money towards transfers / rebuilding our squad and a more unified team under him.

Agreed, and they'll try and palm us off with some old s*** that isn't good enough to get in to their mid table side. Maitland-Niles, Nelson, Chambers, Elneny etc. Great.

I know this is a fun wish list but every year we drool at carpet bagging the choice of the relegated and every year we get none of them. This year will be no different.

I've restricted my list to players that I think are realistically obtainable. From Fulham ; Robinson - if PVA leaves, competition for Mitchell From West Brom ; Gallagher Sheff Utd ; Lundstrom given that he's on a ' free '
