I thought Croydon was a bit of a dump back then, so god only knows what it's like now. I haven't been to Croydon Town centre for years now and don't plan a visit any time ever.

I can't honestly say when I had last visited Croydon. I left London in 2013 and hadn't bene to Croydon for long time before then (day or night). I used to shopping in Croydon as a teenager in the mid 80's, and went out in Croydon through the 90's and into the early 2000's. I can even remember going to the Italian barbers as a child just off Surrey Street (up the stairs).

I used to think of it as a concrete jungle and in about 1979 when I left my employer in Croydon I have also never been back apart from driving through to get to Selhurst Park

Good trip down memory lane I love how some ppl think croydon is a dump. I’ll admit, it’s not the most glamorous of towns, but dump! Have ppl seen 85% of towns and cities north of Watford. Jhezzzzzzzzz There are some poverty stricken, cold, scary, dark places about. Croydon looks like Dubai compared to a lot of them.

I have not traversed Croydon town centre for many a moon but I know some people who have gone down "Memory Lane" paying a visit after several years and have been disappointed with what they witnessed.
