This BBC documentary begins on March 22. It explores the sickening events of serious sexual abuse that took place against possibly hundreds of lads who innocently placed their trust in the hands of coaches who they believed would make them better players.

The perpetrators included Barry Bennell, George Osmond and Bob Higgins among others. Bennell was jailed for 31 years in 2018.

I find it difficult to find the words to describe how despicable these men were. What on earth leads them to behave this way with these poor kids. Anyway, it sounds like it will be hard to watch, but I sincerely hope it makes an impact and just helps to make football safer and prevent this kind of behaviour in future.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

This kind of behaviour is difficult for most of us to comprehend and gives rise to the fact that nowadays the laws are very strong if you want to work with children - and rightly so.
I have not decided whether I will watch tonight or not.
I hope though that victims find the courage to continue to speak out and that anyone who did anything wrong gets found out and banged up.
Utter scum.
