Am I the only one who thinks there are a lot of lazy lying parents who send their chavs to school cos they cant be bothered to help them. A minority maybe cant but a majority have no devices, my arse.

A family friend who is the head of an inner-London primary told me that during the first lock-down, he was staggered by how many of the 'posh' parents were desperate to send their kids back, even when they were working from home themselves (his school has a bizarre intake of the very wealthy and the very poor) and I suspect the same is true now.

Whereas the poorer kids, who needed the stability and even protection of being in a safe space during the day, were nowhere to be seen, even when they were told to go back to school again. It is these kids he fears will probably never really catch up on their education once this eventually passes.

I suspect that out in the 'burbs it probably is a case that a lot of kids do have both parents in key worker positions but I too struggle with this idea of people not having the right 'devices' at home.

Maybe, it's more the case of not enough devises to go round.

There was a family shown on local TV with 4 children who only had one tablet to use between them, which I can see causing problems if they are all trying to download worksheets, be involved in online classes and do their research at the same time.

Some families have one child yet still send them to school and arnt key workers. Tbh I hope these devices are delivered and signed for by the parents. Then they can take responsibility for THEIR children and take an interest in something other than themselves. In this case HMG have set up tons of parents for a big fall when their bluff is called. It will be a dongle for www and a device for learning. No excuse not to go online but you can bet many still wont as loose women is on. God knows what would happen if that moron Kyle was still about.
