Too right, every twelve months we threaten to change. They put our price down to new customer rates. The cost of a free phone call to save hundreds a year.

I would like to move from BT when my contract expires due to the rip off prices. I have not done so due to a rookie error. I have used my BT email address as my main one which means I have at least 50+ online accounts which would need to change as well as informing family and friends etc. Harbour Eagle pointed out that unless dealing with BT I should have used a portable email address like GMAIL as my main address, they don't care who your broadband provider is. BT used to offer a free service then it was $1 per month just to keep your old email address today I believe it is £7 per month. None of this stops me from moving I just don't have the energy to go through the grief. So lesson for everyone your main email address should be portable.

When I left Virgin they said I could keep my email account for six months . That was over three years ago and still active !

I hate BT. To be fair, I hate Virgin, Sky, Talktalk, and that one in Yorkshire, equally. My broadband is provided by Three. But the best bit is that I don't have a landline. No cost, no nuisance calls. Win, win.

If you're looking for a portable email address with a difference, have a look at mail.com - they have over 200 domain names to choose from. As I play in a couple of bands, I have an address xyz@musician.org - the domains are grouped by profession, hobby etc.
