The buy one get one free offers in the supermarket are to be banned by this nanny state government, can"t boris trust the british housewife to buy two items and save one for next week, saving a few shillings in the process? Does he think everybody has to eat two items at a time, without the will power to scoff the lot in one go? Come on boris, have some faith in the british housewife and stop taking her to the cleaners!

The price of the first item is obviously inflated so that the second one is free. So it is sharp practice, but surely any shopper can see that.

Given the short shelf life of so many foodstuffs in supermarkets, a very large proportion of these offers will end up in the waste bin, as too many people are afraid to open it up, sniff it and then decide if it's edible or not.

I thought you would be against this as it discriminates against the poor? Bulk buying is fine if you have the money not so good when you are on a tight budget.

Not at all, getting two for the price of one surely helps the poor, as long as its not the inflated price to begin with as steeley said. We got out of the E.U as there are to many rules and regulations, only not to be able to make our own choices in a supermarket without nanny interfering, out of the frying pan in to the fire!

No better example than the holland and barrett buy one, get one for a penny deal that"s been going for years, that means one item in the shop is at least 100% overpriced.

Would rather pay less for one item. Even buy 1 get one half price is a con if you don't need the second item. The first thing that should go through someone's head when buying something is... Do I need it? It wastes your money, and it produces unnecessary waste as well.
