Cheers me up to hear that communist spy George Blake has died - responsible for the deaths and torture of many British agents by his betrayal of them.

98 was a good innings. He seemed to like Communism, especially when he was above the masses. If he hadn't have been responsible for exposing British Agents, I wonder how he would have enjoyed Communism amongst the populace ?

Beats me how this guy eluded the hangman (hanging for treason wasn't abolished until 1998 ) then he was "allowed" to escape from prison to enjoy the good life in Russia for another 54 years. Edited by Henry of Peckham (27 Dec 2020 11.28am)

A man who died with no honour, who betrayed those who had trusted him. Barely worthy of being called a 'man' in any meaningful way. The worst of all deaths.

You obviously haven't seen 'Callan' lately, we bumped off just as many of theirs. Lived to 98 that is quite a score considering he was a spy. He admitted that communism, Russian style, had not been made to work. But his view of the communist cause as being a just and equal society remained, and that humanity my return to it. I think that is a valid argument.

If you don't like the British system, then fine. Not keen on it myself. But I would not lie to burrow my way into it then give information that led to the deaths of people. A no-good treacherous bit of s***.

If you take money and land away from the better off and they object how exactly do you resolve that? State controlled violence is the only option. Communism cannot work in a peaceful way because it is human nature that what people have they want to hang onto. Maybe Corbyn and his mates would give up their homes and wealth but the vast majority of people would not do so willingly. Bread and circuses are what people want. Tell that to the people whose cover was blown. Even the Guardian had the common sense to edit the documents and to hide names as they realised real peoples lives were in danger. Not so Assange.
