I did wonder when Allardyce was appointed West Brom manager whether he would be looking at any of our players. Looks like he is :-

Really torn about whether we should consider letting him go, if West Brom come in for him.

I think he is one of our better defenders, and can chip in with the odd goal. But he is immensely injury prone, and now 31 years old.

I suppose it depends on how much West Brom are prepared to offer and whether we have any replacements lined up ?

Exactly! With a full 25 man squad we will need to offload someone if we want to bring in anyone over teh age of 21. We really need a young CB with some pace as well as ability. So, if we have one in our sights then Tomkins may well be let go and we can get a few bob for him.

He had a good couple of years with us but as you say, he's 31 and with his recent injury record it may be time to part company.

Agree with both posts above but we really do need a top class, first team ready, young CB lined up to come in.

Cahill 34, Dann 33, Tomkins 31, Kouyate 30, Sakho 30, Kelly 30, Woods 22.

We are crying out for some youth and pace in defence but they have to be quality.

We currently have five centre backs so could do with letting one of them go to make room for a more attacking player in the squad. Would rather we let Scott Dann go but if only Tomkins is wanted then I say we cash in while we still can.

Depends on how much. A fit Tomkins in my opinion is our second best CB. Would need to be around 9/10m to be tempting.

but considering age & his injury record..
WBA will pay over odds right now.

WBA already have central defenders in Bartley,Ajayi,Ivanovic,O'Shea and Kipre but of course Allardyce might well wish to sign players in this area.

It is their dearth of goals which needs to be addressed - They have only scored 5 goals in their last 10 games so I expect additions to the forward ranks.Perhaps he might try and sign Cenk Tosun whom he signed for Everton.

I can’t imagine we will be looking to sell Tomkins but he will find it hard to dislodge Kouyate from that position. Tomkins is a better defender but Kouyate offers us a lot more in that position.
