Nhs staff and brexit

Since the referendum i have noticed nearly everyone working in the nhs seems to be remainers and are not afraid to say so, I have seen quite a bit of bullying towards anyone who dared to admit voting out. Is the nhs going to be screwed by brexit?

I would hope with the new immigration rules it will be easier for qualified staff from around the world to come and work for the NHS. If not then the rules need to be changed if the government wont change the rules we should change the government something you couldn't have done under the EU. One more point

A few Irish friends of mine are nurses and so is my ex-wife. They have no intention of leaving the NHS. They're probably remain as it suits them personally. Frankly, remain would suit me better too - as I'm a British citizen in the EU. I haven't bothered getting my Irish passport, which won't be too hard for me. I'm not going register or do anything. I've been here 22 years, no one's going to notice.

Agreed. We can still employ foreigner health staff, if required.

Separately but connected, instead of continually relying on foreigners why don’t we start training up our own youngsters to do these jobs

My wife works at the RCN, the principal hospital for Cornwall. She tells me that there has already been a very noticeable shift this year with a large number of staff who came from EU countries going "home" and being replaced by new staff from elsewhere. Notably from Africa, The Philippines and India. This, of course, causes disruption just when it's not wanted. Many are provided by agencies, often London based. The costs are high, the training incomplete and NHS experience limited at best. Many are still going through the adaptation process so are unauthorised to work unsupervised.

We do already but you cannot turn a tap on. There aren't enough training places, or university lecturers now. That needs to be put in place first.

Guess what? It isn't actually true. Some nursing students have been refused the grant after already budgeting for it. This government is a disaster.

i met many at Mayday who couldn't speak a word of English. It prompted the question 'how long had they been in the UK before presenting to the hospital ?''
