Anyone else hate these adverts about buying "collectable" gold coins, vat free? Anyone buying this crap must be mad, you will never get your money back unless the gold price surges, and then only scrap value, which is a lot cheaper than they sell for. I sold a few half soverigns last year, for the same price i got them ten years ago, scrap value, and that was when the price of gold was up! A half soverign went for £80, yet in these adverts a quarter gold soverign is £199- vat free- bargain! But you do get a "free" booklet with pictures of other coins you can purchase as an -"investment!"

As you say most gold we buy is only worth scrap value so jewellery is a bad investment. I hadn't realise coins weren't good either.

Not much good if you are paying 5 times the scrap value!

Well spotted. 21st century half-sovereigns currently sell for slightly less than that quarter-sovereign price (about £190). And I may be wrong, but I think I saw one advert where the £199 buying price was going to be raised significantly after a month (or something). So hurry while the bargain price lasts! I see by the way that the price of gold has risen by 60% over the last two years. So a great investment if you can get your timing right!

The current price for Gold in the UK is £1543.34 per oz, which means my ingots & coins, are worth a tidy sum, BUT, some are for the grandkids 21st's(old fashioned) & the rest is for, well, not too sure to be fair.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

You the reason for the cancelled trains mate? Difficult to frag that as all the strands are shaped. Some would take it but can get a visit anytime so a bit dodge.
