Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood have been sent home from England duty in Iceland following a breach of COVID-19 guidelines.

I'm wondering now if this means they'll have to go into quarantine for 14 days upon their return, and miss the opening fixtures for their clubs on 19 September.

That would be a shame.

Travel corridor country and somewhere that has had just over 2,000 cases and 10 deaths.

I can see Foden being dropped by Citeh for a few games, not sure Manure will drop Greenwood, maybe bench him for a cpl of games. Dont forget both their seasons start a week after everyone elses.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Which they've breached.

True, and I know I'm clutching at straws, but as the very reason for their early return is due to a breach of COVID-19 guidelines I was rather hoping they might be advised to quarantine anyway.

Oh well.

There is no quarantine needed from Iceland, its on the 'safe' list for UK entry.

Correct decision to send them home. They should be isolated from the rest of their club squads for two weeks before training again.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

They brought a couple of girls back to the hotel whilst on England duty.

Very silly not to keep it in their pants for a few days whilst representing their country.

One more point

Still got to maintain the bubble and keep distance.

Apparently 'visited by two local women'.

I once had an Icelandic girlfriend, I know what 'visit' means in Iceland.

I do find Gareth Southgate really annoying in these situations. He is so earnest, sincere and up himself. He calls these players boys - one of them is a father with a long term partner. They weren't naive they were brazen and arrogant. They knew the rules and deliberately chose to break them - this was no chance meeting with 2 girls.

When dealing with the Harry Maguire situation, he referred to him as "the boy". Hardly, he is a 27 year old multi millionaire that probably has a social media/image team to look after him.

I remember a year or two ago, the England team were going to visit Auschwitz (or similar) and Southgate was saying that he would make sure that the players understood the importance and relevance of the visit. How stupid and uneducated are these England players?

Just because they are footballers does not excuse them from the responsibility of conducting themselves well. Particularly, as they are role models and representing the country.

Southgate comes over as a cross between a scout master and a social worker rather than a leader or manager.

Am I they only one that finds it annoying?

Rant over and yes, I feel better for that!
