I've just heard on LBC that Bristol University Medical School has told its students that they are not to use the word "blue", for example as when the tips of your fingers become very cold, or "yellow", as in an attack of jaundice, because - well, you've guessed it - they are racist terms. What with chucking public property into the river, and now this, there must be something in the Bristol air that causes people to take leave of their senses. I've decided I've been in this world too long - I can't keep up.

August in the media is known as the silly season the politicians are on holiday so the media make up stuff, however in my opinion the silly season is all year round. Anyway before I can comment I would like to see some proof I am not doubting you more the media twisting stuff. You often see headlines such as "University ban..." when in fact it is the student body which is independent of the university. Has anyone seen my hamster? I last saw it with Freddie Starr. If one is dumb enough to follow these kinds of guidelines then you only have yourself to blame.

If correct who in their right mind would want to study there?

The Medical School's point, as far as I understand it, is that non-whites do not visibly go blue (if very cold) or yellow (if affected by jaundice) in the same way as whites, and so to use these words is self-evidently discriminatory - and must stop. I pass that on for what it's worth.

Hogwash as Willo would say.
