Swiss Kevin Bua was amazing for Basel in the last years. Left this summer cause he finished his contract but was a startwr. Emre Kilinc is a good Turkish left foored winger. Left the same way.

And they ask for around 20.000 a week, not close to 100.000 like Ryan Fraser, who is a good player, but let's do the math here.

Bua is just coming up to 27 so probably in his prime. If he is as good as Fraser then getting someone for half the wages makes total sense. Would probably get 3 good seasons out of him at least.

The advantage Fraser has over him is PL experience. Wouldn’t need to get used to the pace and should hit the ground running

Yes but he also has PL greed and apparently a pretty poor attitude so I’m really not sure about him.

I wasn’t advocating his signing but trying to point out the advantage he had iver a player from Switzerland

After last year, it could be called "Premier League fatigue" or "Premier League stalleness". I think Bua would rather hit the ground running.

The Swiss League ( and I've been to quite a few games there down the years ) is overall lower Championship level.

While I would no way endorse paying Fraser £100k a week, neither would I have any appetite for players just because they are cheap in comparison

What are you basing that on? Swiss teams in Europe have beaten adversaries like Manchester United, Napoli, Shakhtar Donesk, Juventus in the last years.

Which Championship teams could do that? Swiss league is very strong. Austrian as well.

Have a look at the FA Cup and EFL Cup

The fact is, any player who hasn't played British football and is foreign comes with extra layers of risk. Risk they struggle with the relentless intensity/physicality, risk they just don't really settle.

I have no view on this guy, or most of the others ttt posts about, but I do believe that we shouldn't add in a single season more than 1 or 2 players who've not played British, ideally English, ideally PL, football.

Traore, Saint Maximin, Sarr, Richarlison four wingers we have previously shown interest in from outside our PL who would have gone in that category all of whom are tearing it up and have now substantially increased in value. Buying from the PL is relatively safe but expensive, buying outside the PL is where the bargains are (Bolasie for us) and you have to at some point rely on the skills of your scouting network to ensure value for money.

Totally get your point about limiting risk however.
