The paper talk is that Chelsea are putting up FIVE defenders for sale - just up our street!? Who will we go in for?

"Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has made five defenders available for sale and will step up plans to sign Leicester City and England left-back Ben Chilwell, 23. (Times - subscription required)"

"Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso are for the out, as is keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who cost so much he will have to be loaned out. N’Golo Kanté is also being considered for sale as Frank looks to sign Declan Rice from West Ham and Atlético’s José Giménez."

I would class myself as an 'expert'. Only joking of course, I am very much an average schmoe.

I would like any of the defenders really although Alonso is a bit old now and not great on the defensive side. Zouma or Christensen would certainly be welcome however I don't know if we'd be able to attract them? Also, what do the wages and transfer fees look like?

 

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Zouma is rumoured to be valued at >£20m and on about £75k/week.

He's a good player, but I feel there are defenders around who, though likely older, would end up being of similar-ish ability a lot cheaper. It's not like Chelsea's defence was solid last year. Given it's not an area we need to invest in this summer it feels like a luxury we can't afford.

Chelsea are lumbered here.

I doubt there will be any other clubs willing to pay these players these sort of wages.

They dont have to move and can happily sit out their contracts at Chelsea. Chelsea do have previous with this situation, remember Winston Bogarde ?

Kurt Zouma showed so much promise, but after that nasty injury he was sent out on a few loans to recoup and never really got back on track I don't think. Nearly made an absolute howler the other day. Too expensive for what he is I reckon.
For all of them really I'd say it depenss on who/how many of ours we get rid of too.
