Who else thinks Roy will retire on 26th July?

I think he will. Roy hated leaving England the way he did, can you imagine his style of football relegating our Palace next season. No good player will come and risk their career under Roy, he has destroyed good players at our club, with disciplined Plan A. We can see it, players can see it. What would his legacy be then.. only failure. I think he knows his lost the players in the team. If he is a man of honour, after the final whistle or let the team know prior to the final match, he is retiring. Take us down.. no way, he as bad as all Liverpool fans think he is.. and that was with quality players, they rebelled against Roys negative tactics! There is no way I would take a chance with Palace next season with Roy in place. Palace cannot afford to be relegated or spend money on "Roys" players that would be offloaded as soon as new manager arrives. So Roy to retire on 26th July

I'd fully expect Parish to thank him for his work, but tell him that recent results are totally unacceptable, the team have lost interest and discipline, the fans are unhappy with the negative football, and it is time for a new season with a new manager in charge. It'll be more like a gentleman's agreement than an outright sacking, a suitable outcome for both parties. If this was happening in April/May then possibly this would happen, but with the turnaround to the new season likely to be very short unless we have a new manager lined up and ready to go it could prove costly to let Roy leave. Personally I think he was let down with promises of new players that never materialised and given what he had available to him it is a great accomplishment that we were effectively safe with almost a quarter of the season left to play. Ayew has attributed his personal turnaround to Roy so I wouldn't be so sure that players don't want to play for him. I also imagine he had a hand in convincing Cahill to come. On the flips side the football has been depressing at times and our one usually reliably entertaining player has put his magic set away for reasons only known to himself. Personally I wouldn't be devastated if he left but I would also be fine with him staying, especially if we actually sign a few quality players (I think that is more important than the manager right now).

We're at a crossroads and could do with making a change, else it's stagnation territory. On the other hand though, for many, Roy has done enough to stay on. Lots of posts predicting he's on his way out but I can't see it myself.

We cannot change managers now, too close to start of new season. We need 4/5 new players smartly sourced and Roy to guide to safety again next season. In the meantime succession planning needs to take place over next 12 months, so we have new manager when Roy retires which will hopefully not be before his contract extension expires. We certainly do not any panicked appointments of unsuitable replacements at this time.

You could have written this 2 seasons ago and it would have had as much validity, in the sense that I thought Roy was brought in to ensure a solid base from which to rebuild. Unfortunately signings like McCarthy and Sorloth has me thinking that there remains a lot to be done. I'm not convinced Roy is the man to do it.
