I was looking at Don's playing record after leaving Palace in 1974.

He moved to QPR, but, between 1974 and 1976, he only made 18 appearance for them. I don't recall what happened - was he injured, did he lose form? I know Rangers had some very good players at that time so competition for a 1st team place would have been lively.

After QPR he returned to Swindon and made a further 12 appearances for them before his career fizzled out.

He didn't join us until he was 27 so he would have been 29 when he joined Rangers and obviously at the tail end of his career.

I do wonder where his career might have gone if he had left Swindon sooner than he did.

I think Don had back problems which limited his fitness after he left us.

He opened a Sports shop in Swindon after he finished playing.

It was a hip injury he’d been carrying for years which was supposedly the reason he didn’t tackle anyone. He’s had two replacement ops.
He will always be my favourite player; he’d have played for England if he’d left Swindon earlier and Ramsey had any interest in wingers.

Thanks guys. I didn't think he could have become a poor player overnight.
