I had to laugh reading this. Three weeks military service was, according to Son, "tough".

I pictured him on the shooting range, running 10 miles in full kit, sweating it out on obstacle courses, swimming in freezing water.

But no ..." We spent every day together in one room, 10 people very close, working together".

Sounds more like a corporate team building exercise.

Have YOU ever served?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Well, yes he has, through National service of his country. My retort on the OP's flippant post, was if HE hasn't served, dont take the pi$$

I can't honestly see whether I've served or not has any relevance, nor does it prohibit me from commenting.

If I'd done 3 weeks service which entailed being in a room for the duration I certainly wouldn't be making a big thing of it. National Service in this country was 18 months - that's serving.
