I came across this old newspaper cutting but can’t see a date - nor am I aware of this record win? Can anybody put a date to it - I guess it’s the Croydon Advertiser? Attachment: D8E1518B-4592-41D3-B09A-3D0D6B9F015F.jpeg (5,158.42Kb)

1939 is my guess The first article mentions Bill Bark aged 20 and Wikipedia list him as being born in 1919

Had to laugh at the other article where a game had been played at Grange Park, wonder how they coped with the slope!

Interesting to see the reference in the first paragraph to a reminder of "the pre-war rivalry". And haven't we always thought it was to do with Alan Mullery?! As others may have seen, the records on this site, which start in 1920/21, don't show a 10-0 result, which is a bit of a mystery. Great bit of reading though.

The 1942 game was actually 10-1 (which must have spoiled the day for Palace fans!) but we did beat them 10-0 on April 6, 1940. It was a War League game. Programme scans attached. Check out the league table. Attachment: PALACEBRIGHTON193940 1.jpeg (87.08Kb)

Thanks for that correction! Sorry l got the wrong game ! twenty goals in two games against them. In 1941-42 we scored ten against them five in each game home and away. In those four games Bert Robson scored ten gpals!

As mentioned it was a war time game. Jack Blackman who’s mentioned in the report played for Palace from 1936-1946. Interesting point, the local results from the Thornton Heath league down in the bottom L/H corner, a league I played in during 80’s
