I don't know if this has been put up previously but I've just come across this news and it seems quite intriguing Has Selhurst staged any boxing events previously?

I’m in my early 40s and can’t ever recall a boxing event at Selhurst in my time... Buatsi is obviously a Croydon boy and promoted by Eddie Hearn who can make anything happen but I feel he needs to become an established world champion before he can dictate to Hearn that he wants to fight at Selhurst Park.... Hope it happens though!

Imagine paying a few quid for tickets for Buatsi v Yarde , to unify the title in a few years time and getting stuck in the Arthur Waite, warm carlsberg and ankle deep in p*ss. Gareth A Davis would love it.

I won't go to any boxing matches in football stadiums. Too far away to see any of the action you are better off watching it on TV. Still good lad to the lad nice to hear he's a Palace fan.

Is he a Palace fan? Know he used to train at the end of Holmesdsle Road but that don’t mean anything. Boxers, unlike football players have to create their own audience, one of the easiest way to do this is attach yourself to a football club and tap into their fan base. Buatsi is a talented enough lad but does not have a fan base. He’d struggle to fill York Hall at the moment. If you fight anywhere and it’s less than 50 full it looks awful so to even half fill Selhurst would be a huge ask for any but a handful of fighters.

Buatsi seems to be quite a reserved character and if he is a fan he hasn't made a thing of it. He does however identify with Croydon and thinks that fighting at Selhurst would signify something.....Or perhaps, more probably it's Hearn doing the thinking and talking up for him. Buatsi seems similar in attitude to Dubios, insomuch as they regard boxing as a job they are good at rather than something they are enthusiastic about....not that they can talk all that well even so...and so all the tickets sold is more the boxing hardcore. I think the Dubios/Joyce fight has a potential to sell lots of tickets....even though they can't talk much....just because it's a real British heavyweight clash that we haven't seen since Joshua/Whyte.....and before that Lewis/Bruno....Lewis/Mason. Mason.....gone far too soon....fecking bad drivers.

I think I can even remember David Haye in his early career being paraded around the pitch at half time at a Millwall game claiming to be a fan just because he was from Lewisham... I’d probably bet on Buatsi never going to watch Palace in his life but hey like you you say he needs to build a following.. On a boxing level I find him incredibly boring as a fighter... Think it will be some time before he can fill Selhurst Park but good luck to the guy.

He isn’t a Palace fan but he has been invited to Selhurst park before by the club. He is very much a local lad though. I love boxing but have never been to a live fight, I might go to this one if it happens
