Entering last 6 months of contract. A very good striker for his age. Plays (and scores) for England U20s. Will be one of the important PL strikers in the future.

Now this is a good deal if done as an investment for the future. I imagine Stoke isn't in the position to demand more tha a few million. Celtic and Rangers don't really have the power to go against a Premier League club and there isn't any conpetition from Top 6 clubs (first he'll have to play at a lower level, but I imagine that in 3-4 years he'll be able to make the step up to a Top 6 club).

The player would perhaps enjoy more signing along term contract with a PL club rather than Celtic or Rangers, even if Palace were to send him on loan one season. Or even use him in the fisrt team squad even now! He's at 20 yo much better than Benteke or Wickham. And he will become even better with time.

Sign and play should be the way with young players. A 20yo doing six years in the academy is a waste. COYP

Agreed but what about the RBS?

Scored 7 goals since winter at just 20 years old, 9 overall in the Championship. Very unhappy that the board missed this chance. Now he's under contract with them until 2024 and would cost more than 15 million.

I note that in the original article Wolves were also stated to be interested. Given the uncertainty of Jimenez's future they may well be ready to fork out £15 mio plus to get him. Can't see us forking out that kind of money.
