It seems justice has finally caught up with Keith Vaz and he is now in big trouble. The real issue here is why has it taken Parliament 3 years to investigate what was a fairly simple case of buying sex and drugs. He either did or he didn't and the evidence seems fairly straight forward. The question that needs to be asked is why so long and what role did Speaker Bercow play as it has been alleged that he tried to shut down the enquiry into his old mate Keith. Politicians doncha just luv em.

To be fair to old Vaz, he is a gift that keeps on giving. The perfect example of how the modern politician ticking all the right boxes is just as venal, moronic, corrupt and depraved as anything from history. Plus he has given us the wider term 'Vazish' to describe others who we suspect of having similar predilections. For me, the most shocking part is how since the revelations he has still wielded power within the system and even has sat on the Justice Select Committee being appointed AFTER all of this came out. Let that reality sink in. He gained a promotion following his sordid little tale coming out and being videoed offering pay for class A drugs. That is how f***ed things are. Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

There are claims that somebody was arrested during the course of the meeting and that is has been mayhem. Be interesting. I wonder, and it is pure speculation on my part, that we might be seeing some issues between Vaz's more traditional/heritage support and those now backing the new MP who comes from the left of the party and ticks a lot of different diversity boxes to our favourite washing machine engineer. I appreciate it is us big bad whitey who is meant to be the whipping boy in the whole game of Racist pontoon but I do wonder if maybe a more nuanced version is playing out here.

I'll always remember the day when Vaz gave Shilpa Shetty (who received racially-motivated abuse on Celeb Big Brother) a red carpet tour of the House of Commons, whilst ignoring families of troops who had been killed or injured in Iraq who had turned up at Westminster for answers on the mis-treatment of their sons in action for the Crown.

I hope you are not suggesting that our Jim was an ego strutting celebrity seeking self serving politician, surely not.
