I was wondering when we'd get the plans for how league fixtures would work around the next World Cup ..

Don't mind a winter world cup personally. Breaks up the Premier League season nicely although I would prefer it to be somewhere else rather than Arab land but money dictates.

An interesting one this . . .

Cant see many, if any Palace lads going(I don't mean this disrespectfully) Most, if not all the 'top 6' sides will have loads of players going(subject to being picked).

Tekkers-Belgium. our most likely, tho, form dictates.
Wilf-Ivory Coast. cant see them qualifying
Cheik-Senegal. 50/50 for qualifying
Luka-Serbia. 35/65 for qualifying
Wayne-Wales. really?
PVA-Holland. interesting one this, possible
Mama-France. as above
Vincente-Spain. a possibility, if picked

English players? Forget it. Not as long as our ex Captain is in charge of the national team.

Up for (ridicule) discussion. Thoughts?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I am wondering if one or two friendlies might be arranged during the Premier League shutdown. No matches between 12 November and 26 December is a heck of a long break. Of course we may not be in the Prem. by that time.

Having said that, The Championship will also shut down but probably only for the duration of the World Cup with games immediately up to the start of the World Cup and resumption as soon as it finishes.

The article states "A winter break will be introduced to the Premier League for the first time this season in order to give players a rest."

Anyone know when this is? The only breaks I could see in the fixtures were the usual International weekends in November and Feb

Interesting that rugby union and cricket can cope with a world cup during term time.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)
