T20 is enough of a farce but has almost become bearable - good for a piss up rather than a spectacle. The Hundred is nonsense, whats the point introducing a new format which is only 20 balls shorter? Is there really a gap in the market for this? I understand they are trying to attract youngsters and new fans to the game and T20 has done that with most games selling out or close to. There seems to be no regard for the real cricket fans who love the Test format, which sadly seems like it could be a dying game. We've just come off a fantastic Ashes series which was gripping throughout and it feels like a missed opportunity to capitalise on this. I certainly won't be going to support whatever team plays at Surrey's ground nor will I pick my dream team for it!

When it was first 'invented' a mate of mine described it as "cricket for the lager-drinking masses". In my cricket-playing days, a match of 20 overs (or fewer) per side was known as a 'beer match'.

Test cricket does seem to be dying everywhere except England and perhaps Australia as we still play internationals to full grounds. Oddly enough for a Southerner living in the Midlands I actually support Durham as I was living in the North East when they became a first class county and got caught up in all the razzamatazz but I won't be supporting Northern Meat Pies or whatever they are called as Ben Stokes is probably the only Durham player that will be in their squad

Just looked at the team names for the first time. ‘Northern Super Chargers’ what’s load of sh*t. The ‘Oval Invincibles’ can do one too

A name like that will ensure that Kent supporters don't bother with it. I notice that they have picked their first three players, The Curran Brothers and Jason Roy so that's three from Surrey and none from Kent so far despite the fact that Kent finished last season's 20/20 higher than Surrey who finished second to bottom. Surrey may have lost one or two players to England but with their vast financial resources they did have Aaron Finch and Imran Tahir in their side

Incidentally Surrey are my least favourite team as despite their enormous wealth and marvellous catchment area they prefer to steal players raised by other counties having three players who came through the Durham academy plus others who came via other county academies. As soon as we are out of the EU the Kolpak loophole will be closed and players like Morne Morkel won't be eligible to play unless as an overseas player. Rant over
