Watching Czech v England, saw quite a few fans drinking beer - a couple had their glasses on the fence At Wembley (like all U.K.) grounds drinking is banned within sight of the pitch. Didn’t see any trouble at Prague so perhaps it’s another outdated rule?
Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season? |

Judging by the reports, I would have needed a drink in order to watch such dross.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

In non league the FA have ever so slightly relaxed the rules this season , although they haven't made a big thing about it . In the FA Cup qualifying rounds clubs below the National League have been able to have alcohol outside . Wether this will be the case when it gets to the First round or the FA Trophy i don't know . you can drink outside today at Dulwich Hamlet

It would massively improve football if this rule were relaxed. Probably also good for the atmosphere that Sky Sports cherishes so much.

Whilst I have no problem with people drinking alcohol whilst attending and watching matches, I would have more of a problem with people getting up to go to the bar every 20 minutes then coming back slopping beer over you when they pass. It happens all the time at the cricket and I imagine the rugby too. I would change the rules so that you can take your drinks into the stand but close the bars at kick-off and not open them until half time. Not dissimilar to the cinema or theater.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Rugby, Cricket, Darts etc rely on a drinking culture to attract fans, does football need it to fill stadiums? I fully understand that for those that drink it would make a good event slightly better but for those that don't it may result in a good event being ruined especially at away games where their is no family stand. I envision a family sat sharing sandwiches at half time have to listen to someone behind them telling their mates how he smashed the ar5e of a sort the night before, but because they'll want a beer or 2 this would usually be talk for the concourse.

The problem is that there will not just be the the sensible drinkers, but also the "let's get out of our box" drinkers. It's bad enough now in the Main Stand in my row where there are several individuals who leave before half-time ( not all at the same time) to get to the bar and then return at intervals after the 2nd half kick-off. There is hardly any leg room and we all have to get up and down each time. As another poster suggested earlier it might work if the bars were closed as soon as the match is in play, but otherwise it's a no for me.
