I rate him very highly but today he's been very wasteful he should have scored at least 4 goals he nearly broke the cross bar twice

I said/called this in the summer that we should have gone for him - we probably could have picked him up for £15- £18M - now he's top scorer in the Championship will be a whole heap more with more suitors/vultures circling....!! If I can see that - just what is Freedman doing - picking up his salary and naff all else from where I sit..!! Would love us to get him in January but as I say there will now be whole host more in the queue and Brentford will now/then want £25M - £30M. Missed opportunity I fear..!! COYP

I believe he played mainly as a winger last season and this is his first year as out an out number 9. There will definitely be big bids for him come January.

We reportedly had an £11m bid rejected in the summer and if we are "late to the party" so is every other PL club as no one signed him during the last transfer window. That sort of sum is most likely near to the maximum we can bid in our current financial position, especially on what would have been a speculative buy. Clearly no other club made an 'acceptable' offer either.

We should get him signed in January he is just the right type of player for us even though he hasn’t played in the top flight before he is worth getting in.

Unfortunately if we’re looking relatively safe point wise Jan I can’t see it happening, unless will goes for 50m plus we can splash 25-30 and get rid of Tekkers

If true that we had £23m bid rejected for the Russian lad then Watkins could be a possible alternative. One caveat on this is that the top Championship strikers from last season who have been signed by PL clubs have not exactly set the world on light, which points to how hard the step up can be: Maupay 2 goals in 7 games, Che Adams 0 goals in 6 games, McBurnie 1 goal in 7 games. Pukki shows it can be done though with 6 in 7.
