Reading stuff on the web that West Brom are concerned that he will leave for nothing at the end of the season with the foreign interest A decent bid in January might get the ball rolling

There is no doubt we need strengthening at BOTH back-positions, even more so than bringing in an other (costly flop) striker.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Nathan Ferguson (Mail)' by Midlands Eagle He has been enjoying a good season at WBA at full back and can play either side; he'll be out of contract in the summer. I admit to being relieved when the rumour mill even mentions a full back. He'd strike me as being on the young side for Roy and 10 Championship games is not a lot of form.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Nathan Ferguson (Mail)' by Midlands Eagle I have a feeling that Ferguson started off as a central defender but has played in both full-back positions for WBA, mainly at right-back. Ferguson reminds Slaven Bilic of Declan Rice whom he managed at W.Ham,adding that whilst Ferguson is a teenager he has the maturity of someone in their mid to late 20s.

The Guardian link is dated September and speaks of us being flush with the Wan-Bissaka money. Has anyone heard a dicky-bird since September re this rumour? I can't see him wanting to come to us with bigger fish sniffing around.

Didn't know he was in his last 6 months of contract. Good info! When a player is in his last 6 months, you don't even have to talk to the club, you talk to him directly and get his signature. WBA would maybe bluff that they would freeze him out of the squad for 6 months unless we pay them SOMETHING. But from what I read, they want up to 5-10 million!! Considering he only has 6 months left, just sign him up and wait for the summer would be best. Player should understand if well advised by agent and family. And honestly, WBA would still use him if they're a serious club. On the other hand.....does Palace really need him? He's practically a center back, not a right back. He has 52 professional matches as center back and only 12 as right back. Where is coming as center back? We've got Cahil, Tomkins, Sako, Kelly. There's our 4 center backs for the next season. None of them is going away. Edited by mattteo (09 Jan 2020 5.52pm)

Funnily enough that’s exactly what twenty seconds of internet research told me as well!

Everyone keeps highlighting how we have no succession plan, how ‘old’ our squad is and Sakho, Tomkins and Cahill are no exception to this and also get more than their fair share of injuries. This one would be a no brainier (cover for three positions) with potential for a big sell on fee in the future too. Edited by Phil’s Barber (09 Jan 2020 6.31pm)
