I've had four identical letters today.
In four different envelopes 1st class.
3 sheets per letter.
Advising about an appointment date changing next month.
They could text me,email or send one letter.
Wtf is going on.
I'm sure I cant be the only one this happens to.
What a waste and then moan about a lack of funds.

Half of their problems are due to being disorganised. I once had a doctor's appointment about a sprained ankle, to which I received a letter telling me to expect a call about a physio appointment. When they called though they informed me that I'd receive an appointment date by letter. But when the letter arrived it informed me that I needed to call them to book an appointment. Stuck in a loop! Maybe they make it convoluted so that people either get better, give up, or die of natural causes before anything can be done.

As it is run like a business am I cynical in wondering if they have too much surplus and due to budgets they have to spend it to get the finance next year.

It's only skint because for years incompetent people have climbed the ranks and been in jobs they are not competent to, too many jobs for the boys culture over the years has been a massive problem.

My question has been answered.
No they're not skint; they are stupid and incompetent.

It's immune from criticism and frenzied headlines created every time change is suggested has made it politically suicidal to even attempt to make it more efficient.

Full of lazy bureaucrats with no competition or accountability.

Proper discussions are required about what essential services should be paid for on the NHS, and what should be paid for out of peoples pockets.

I'd rather a much lower tax regime and to have to pay for GP visits up front, which would create a much better service for everyone.

They dont need to as someone will read and write for them at our expense.
Although in certain situations I could act deaf!
Most can understand english.
Its us fools believing they cant or being told to believe they cant.

It's the same with any system....if it can be abused or exploited it will be.

Essentially the fault lies with the people who devised the system.

If there is a way to exploit something it will be found....more so than before in a socially divided society....but it would still occur.

An incompetent bureaucrat is just another way of saying, 'bureaucrat'.....competent ones are minority finds.

Letters are a great way of focusing minds - an appointment time in a head or mobile can be more easily over-looked. They are now trying to fill appointment slots and a letter may be followed be a call. This helps them not to have specialist skills unused, and has perhaps helped Mayday (CUH) be awarded £12,700,000.00 for an overhaul of the Intensive Treatment Unit.

Alternatively thinking about it,it could be the roll out of the penalty fine for not turning up for an appointment.
Say £100 is the figure.
5 letters to 25 people at 80p each.
Just one missed appointment pays that back.
Two and they're in profit.

There was a TV program a year or so back when half a dozen past Health Ministers from both parties discussed the NHS and they all agreed that the biggest problem in getting anything changed or modernised were the doctors themselves who seemed to object to any and every suggestion as a matter of course
