usually the 'hard men' - Ron 'Chopper' Harris never looked a day under 42c even when he was at primary school apparently.

I have here five links to Cammy Fraser, Mike Pejic, Tony Grealish, Nat Lofthouse and someone else who I can't remember. Any more they don't make them like they used to premature agers? Try and avoid baldies that's too easy

I always thought John Burridge looked the same age for years, from when playing with us right up to his time at Citeh.

Thinking about it keepers generally seem a fairly evergreen bunch generally.

Speaking of Burridge, he was a character eh. Well before my time but thought it might be interesting to post this interview and video of his absolutely nuts pre-match warm up.

Barely understand a word he says, accents were much stronger back then apparently, seem a lot more diluted now. (Taken from team of the 80s)

Spot on. In my early days as a football fan I used to browse through old football annuals and the photos therein suggested that teams were populated by men in their 40s.

Of course I now realise that they were mostly only in their 20s. Brylcremed hair parted in the middle always made players look older, but I wonder if growing up in poor working class environments gave players a more lined and chiselled look to their features.

Your first paragraph... precisely what I was getting at!
