My next door neighbours have an Ash tree (fast growing) which is growing near our house and pushing over our fence. Have spoken to them and even offered to remove it but they say it was planted by her late father and she does not want to remove it (even though it will start to impede on their own property). She’s just being difficult. Thought about climbing over the fence and sawing it down when they were out but want to be a bit more subtle. Any ideas how I could kill it without them noticing? For the record, these neighbours are a couple of c@nts. Tom

Surely the tree can be cut back to protect your property? I know all about c***s as neighbours - my house was badly damaged last year by my incompetent meighbours' fire. 17 grand damage and not on speaking terms.

Drill a hole at its base down towards the root and pour diesel down it.

Ash by name, ash by nature. This calls for a highly confined and unexpected fire. Record temperatures of late. Spontaneous tree combustion. Go around with a 'Dads Tree Waz Ere' plaque the day after. Job done. Edited by dollardays (26 Aug 2019 2.26pm)

You can warn them that they will have a liability if the tree causes subsidence to your property, and according to the ABI Loss Department, Ash is up there with the worst of them......

IF it is an ash tree it is doubtlessly covered by a T.P.O. under the Town and Country planning Act 1971 as long as you have several thousand pounds put by for the obligatory fine and legal costs you might come out of this o.k. but my feeling is leave the Ash tree alone.
