So since the start of 2019, we'd be sitting in 5th place having outscored every team other than City and Pool. Bats man didn't contribute too many of these goals in theory, and Bissaka was hardly an attacking wing back under Roy's tactics. Was the over reaction last week after the Sheffield game a little bit uncalled for? I still cant believe the match post thread has less pages this week after beating Utd in the league for the first time in 30 odd years! Attachment: Screenshot_20190826-101600_WhatsApp.jpg (542.25Kb)

The problem often with Roy's tactics is that at times the only enjoyment is the win itself, so if we don't win then it magnifies how awful it can be to watch at times. There have been periods, like at the end of both of the last two seasons, where we have shown we are capable of playing a more attractive style, but it seems this only generally happens when there is less pressure. Against Man Utd we have no choice really but to play as we did, but against lesser opposition I think many of us hope that the team can try and do more than just be organised. My hope is that Camarasa can be the man to come in and get us that balance between organisation and entertainment.

I do agree that a win can sometimes waver over the cracks of certain performances, but we all remember what happened when Pardew tried a more expansive style of play. It was dreadful. I keep seeing the name Camarasa floating about, similarly to how Meyer's was last season. But baring a few performances, I haven't been overly impressed with Meyer regardless of the position hes played. I hope Camarasa comes good when he gets his chance, but wont be getting my Hope's up like I did for Max. Edited by ozziex99 (26 Aug 2019 8.50am)

Sometimes we don't realise how happy we are. I can think of many fans of other teams that wanted their team to tear the throats out of the opposition and play fantastic football, only to see the fans or the board force a change of manager and either get relagated or struggle. Too often changing the next manager two or three times. I think we all need to be realistic. Whilst I would love to see us play flamboyant football, butI do enjoy away days to Liverpool, Moan U and the Arse every year and would really miss this.

So (sorry for starting a sentence with ‘so’) in the Benteke thread we have people excusing Benteke over the last few seasons for his contribution other than goals, which in my opinion has been close to fvck all, yet in this thread it’s Batshuayi’s goals that are the important factor. I take it it’s been forgotten here how much better our team worked with Batshuayi in the box compared to Benteke. (They’re both not very good further out and actually rubbish on the halfway line when holding the ball up imo) Make sure you don’t contradict yourselves here with how important it is for Batshuayi goal analysis but not Benteke. Both are paid to score and to assist or cause goals. Edited by Rudi Hedman (26 Aug 2019 11.29am)

Very surprised actually, I guess maybe we shouldn’t be so pessimistic
