Would be interested to see everyone’s thoughts. All I do know is Roy won’t agree with any of us

Guaita
Kelly. Tomkins. Sakho. PVA

Luca

Camarasa. Meyer

Townsend. Ayew. Zaha

I would also look at Kouyate as cover at centre back ...Far more mobile than Dann

Guaita

(RB) Tomkins (CB) Cahill (CB) Sakho (LB) PVA

(DM) Meyer (DM) McCarthy

(RM) Townsend (AM) Camarasa (LM) Wilf

(CF) Ayew/Benteke (not fussed, equally unlikely to score)

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I would suggest our best team is with Wilf and Andros up front. None of our forwards score. At a push Ayew in there.
The problem we have is a number of our players don't look fully fit - Luca, Wilf Schlup to name but 3. Hopefully things will improve but we need to get some points before the international break.

Edit Midfield - Meyer still doesn't offer enough for me and should be used off the bench when the game becomes a little more stretched. Not seen Camarasa play but he may offer some creativity in the middle we are clearly lacking.

It doesn't mean a thing talking about the strongest squad.
SOMEONE HAS TO SCORE GOALS AND WE HAVEN'T GOT ANYONE TO DO IT!
This problem has to be addressed now otherwise we will go back to the division to which we are best suited!
I am absolutely baffled why this wasn't done as soon as last season finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where has common sense and professionalism gone?
I do believe it has flown away.
Maybe the club need to look at the management structure. Plan 'A' but thereafter it ends.
Sorry, I am completely disillusioned with yet another awful start to a season, two games no goals!

The striker situation has gone on for the the past 4 (FOUR) transfer windows.

By & large, I more of an SP fan than not - BUT the striker situation & how it has not been addressed repeatedly is reprehensible AND IF we get relegated, I will have zero sympathy for SP, he's brought it on himself.

This is exactly what I would look to do and is arguably no more vulnerable than 4-4-2 and far more dangerous in attack, plus the players are in their natural positions.

No chance of it happening with Roy though.

Is a good shout for a 4-3-3 which isn’t so different to the 4-2-3-1 with those players in there, partly because there’s few options so it’s the same names and why the pressing priority to get out of this z4-4-2. Therefore 2 or more formations per match depending on the score and where the ball is (that just stays the same right now).

Interesting that MOTD2 had us as 4-3-3. I can’t remember the players but it might’ve been your lineup with Benteke instead of Ayew.

Absolutely this - with Ayew and Benteke options to come on. I still think with decent service from our wingers (of whom Wilf is bloody one!!), he may score a few off his head. Wickham has looked strong with good agility when he's come on though.

People calling for Tomkins at right back are forgetting he has no pace. Ward has been decent to be fair to him.

McCarthur works like a nutter, but Luka is the enforcer and this formation would allow Camarasa and Meyer to play centrally ahead of him creating things with Andros and Wilf out wide.

It may be a bit overkill having two creative midfielders though, so perhaps Kouyate/McCarthur/McCarthy could be swapped in for Meyer for balance?

Anyway, Roy will start with the same team and formation I'm sure and we'll get buried 5-0 by United.

Please at least stick Cahill in for Dann. He's past it...
