Charlie.Shanahan@cpfc.co.uk

Hi Charlie,

I am season ticket holder in the upper Holmesdale stand and I have been nominated by a small group of other season ticket holders as their unofficial spokesperson to bring to you our disappointment, as a collective, in the catering facilities in the upper Holmesdale stand.
We have named ourselves “We just want a beer at ½ time collective”.

For clarity I will list each disappointment:

1- Palace ale – this is always “off”. This was off for the majority of last season. I was amazed that it was off for the first game of the season. Please can you let me know why there are so many problems with “Palace Ale”?

2-Demand vs supply. There are a large number of supporters that want a beer at ½ time. There is a massive issue in queues as you will need to queue for the whole of ½ time to get beer and then you miss the match.
You might need more pumps the Shipley bar as there is only one palace ale pumps and one san Miguel. If you had more pumps you wouldn’t need to pore one beer at a time- are you going to invest in more pumps?
Pro-active- could the bar staff be pro-actively and start pouring beers before the rush, so they can just hand them out. This happens at music festivals and other football clubs. Can you start doing this from the next home game?
Pre-order drinks- could we pre order and pay for drinks before kick off?

As I am a spokesperson for a number of season ticket holder, I will be publishing any replies received from the club and will take the collective’s direction on a suitable response.

If we had to communicate our message in one sentence it would be “Catering facilities are not good enough in the upper Holmesdale and we want some improvements”.
I await your reply,

“We just want a beer at ½ time collective”.

It's impossible to get anything in the AW either. I've stopped trying and just get pissed up before and after the game. I have stated this before.
I wrote to the club pre season - got no reply. I'll only be at a couple of matches this season but there will be plenty of people wanting a drink there every week - and similarly not bothering. I'd basically drink anything but I guess a Palace ale would be nice. I've never managed to get one.

I wrote to Steve Parish. I guess he was too busy doing transfer business - look at all those players we brought in. Why would one fan matter? I guess I've only supported the team for forty years.

Cheers. It can't just be us who are pissed off. Palace is the worst premier team I have been to for food and beer. I get more on away days.

Doesn't surprise me. As I have mentioned on previous threads, I have been unable to collect Loyalty points for the last 2 home games (once in the Stephenson Lounge and once in LH). I know it is not that important to many people but I spent over £40 and am trying to gain enough points to attend more away games.
Catering in LH also poor, chips never ready when gates open, ordered a vegan pie, got a steak pie Haven't attempted to get early bird offer this season, as last season was told it was only available from 45 minutes to KO!!

Interested to see what comes back, I 100% endorse the comments on the AW, whether you want a beer or a piss, both out of the question........yet someone has a model of a new stand in his office

Got to say that the Emirates has really got it right. Very few queues and lots of options.

The O2 Arena is also good and Twickenham does OK. Wembley is rubbish in comparison. There must be things to learn, not just wait until we can change the structure of the buildings.

Those beer kegs on the backs of vendors could be a start.

Mind you, going cashless does appear to have made things quicker.

Spuds have Beavertown brewery inside the stadium although Heineken own a fair part of them. Gipsy Hill do some nice beer and local, not sure if they could supply enough if it took off though but a fair few other localish breweries around, Partizan, Fourpure, Orbit, Brixton, Brockley, Canopy etc. are all south of the river.

It's not about the beers or where they are made.

It's about the shambolic management of the outdated facilities.

Various aspects of the club operations promote the opinion people are employed because they are mates or relatives.

Has Charlie Shanahan replied?

Interestingly there are two Charlie Shanahans on linkedin associated with CPFC bars, one is 62 and semi retired.

The other Charlie Shanahan appears to be about the right age to be the son of the elder Charlie Shanahan.

One wonders if they are related as quite a coincidence they have the same name.
