I rate this lad, and I think I wasn’t the only one who noticed the other J Mac was really slowing down last year. We now have 2 extra true midfielders in the mix and with who we already have that is a solid midfield now. Jimmy Mac can be a bench player now and Jimmy Mac can fill the void. Oo er.

And over half of that was a serious leg brake , which could happen to any player. like i said over 300 career appearances , and that includes missing a whole year from a leg break....

I’m not gonna write this guy off, in fact the opposite. I’m going to welcome him to our club and give him the support he deserves and make my own mind up over the coming weeks & months. At the moment I’m far more inclined to take notice of the positive comments from the Everton supporters on the link of the now locked thread in ‘Transfer Talk’. With respect, their experience of him is far greater than anyone on here and they rate him very highly indeed. With an ageing McArthur and the uncertainty over keeping Luka (final year of his contact) this could be a very good signing. Let’s give the bloke some sound encouragement.

Very pleased with this signing. Obviously his fitness level will become clearer over time but for 3m this is a solid purchase. In my opinion we only had two viable true holding midfielders in Luka and Kayoute. McArthur has always impressed more further up the pitch IMO. Midfield is certainly looking strong this year with experience, depth and variety. Defense is a concern if we pick up more injuries. Forwards are a concern...but IF Benteke returned to form we could surprise a few.

And knee injuries and groin injuries. I’m fully gonna support this bloke when he plays and hope he does well, but I still believe that this is a shocking signing and an absolute waste of money on a player that even when fit is decidedly average.
