Anyone seen the Kevin Pietersen programme on Sky? A curious personality who seems to constantly need to try to explain and justify his actions, unlike Geoff Boycott who was equally divisive but happy to concede the point. Their England records are almost identical.

Their stats may be similar but there is a huge difference between the two as KP was a match winner whilst Boycott accumulated his runs so slowly that he seldom won matches for us and indeed was once dropped after having scored a double hundred in the previous Test Match

We needed the consistency he provided at the top of the order. Test matches are meant to last five days, whereas today they rarely enter the last day. Boycott was an amazing player and we were lucky to have him.....and we still are. Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Aug 2019 10.45am)

Edited by Stirlingsays (02 Aug 2019 10.45am) Good point for the purists. The five day game is always my favourite. Remember the days I would either go down in the afternoon and get in for free with a few beers. If not, the whole match used to be free on TV anyway. Imagine anyone having the patience for five days these days; not even the players have.
