20,000? They are having a laugh Populist nonsense from BoJo It will take years to catch back up on the 'austerity measures' that has driven this disaster. If they hire and onboard 20k in thirty six months I am most assuredly a Dutchman. Maybe they could also look at their culture when they have a bit more resource. Certain Forces are just awful - I am looking at you Sussex and Suffolk. Keep alienating decent people and you will have A LOT more work to do and continue to be hated by most. And if you don't put similar effort into e.g. Social Services it won't have much effect. Our structure has been hollowed out. Bluster and rhetoric won't fix that. Announcing 20k should be seen as an admission of guilt - it's a mad percentage. And as it's such an enormous project I would love to see the planning that has been done prior to announcement. My guess is zip.

It's not just about numbers, but how they are deployed, in what areas of crime, in what forces, and making better use of existing police budgets and recognising politically correct ideology does not work on stopping crime. People complaining about more police, heard it all now. 20k in three years isn't unrealistic. "Oooh but what about the past, let's point fingers" Forget it. London is a den of c***s now, as are most big cities. We need more old bill and now he's promised it. Can't see anything but positives.

It's so lovely to hear from people that know what they are doing Chris. So how many interviews is that? Don't forget existing staff turnover now. Also remember they all need a Degree or to be able to obtain one on the job. And to go on training before being deployed. And by the way they also need lockers.
