I see the Jedi has been released by AV. Clearly he has strong leadership skills, a great affiliation for Palace, strong links to both SP and DF etc. Is there/should there be a role for him in the coaching team with a view to potential managerial succession? Thoughts?

respectfully, there are better options out there. however, i would not oppose a role for him of some sorts.

Can you name a few better options please?
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

would love him back at palace in some way one day, there's just something about him, he helped change the mentality of our team to winners!

He’s one of a few players I have tremendous respect for. Only had limited ability but boy did he make the most of what he had, with Palace and also as captain of Australia.

It's a fair point that he might wish to keep playing. However, he wouldn't be a bad defensive midfield cover to have available alongside a move into coaching. I haven't read anything about his future plans so will be interesting to see what unfolds.

He is still knocking around Aston Villa. After being involved with their Under-18's he was recently appointed as their 'loan player development coach'. Put simply, he keeps an eye on Villa players out on loan at other clubs.
