So after one season in management, Chelsea hire him, what is going on?

Sarri was never liked by the supporters and never connected with them at all and has been replaced by a club legend whom I suspect will enjoy an extended honeymoon period because of his standing at the club and the transfer embargo. With the loss of Hazard and the transfer ban it could well be a testing time for Lampard who only has a season of management under his belt.

I predict that he will be looking for another job well before his 3 year contract is 'up'. A win-win for him, therefore.

Derby fans don't seem to upset that he has gone especially after the way they surrendered the play off final to Villa.

Just seems to be the latest in clubs appointing a playing hero rather than the best man for the job.

Lampard has made an error here IMO. He has arrived as a club legend and hero and could disappear very quickly with his tail between his legs if he is not careful. I think I would have stayed where I was for a couple of more years.

I'm actually quite excited to see what Chelsea and Lamps do this season. With the transfer ban and Lampard looks like he's not scared to use the youth players, it will be interesting to see how they do.

It feels very rushed for him, but I hope he does well as a young English manager getting a chance in the Prem, which doesn't often happen.

Some of the clubs with no intention of doing anything more than the minimum or a bit below the minimum appoint former players as managers to fool and keep the fans quiet.

Agreed.

The transfer ban actually helps Lampard as he can promote youth players where required. Any criticisms can be shrugged off because of the ban. I hope he succeeds because we need more young British managers at the top level.

Good luck to him.
Great player and hopefully other English talent will equally get the chance of a managerial position at the 'Top Table'.
