collect all the outrage, swooning, justification, bile and invective here folks. I like the observations of Ricky Gervais myself. Freedom of speech is sacrosanct ? including your right to call me a c...nt , and my right of reply, you c...nt . innit ? Edited by PalazioVecchio (13 Jun 2019 10.34pm)

Jo Brand isn't, nor ever has been, funny. Then again, it might just be that women aren't funny. I'd suffer an hour of her nonsense rather than face 5 minutes of Miranda, Victoria Wood, that fat Geordie bird or Mel and Sue. Edited by ChrisGC (14 Jun 2019 6.36pm)

It was a crass attempt at a joke from a **cough** 'Comedienne' what I get pissed off about are the double standards from yes once again the good old BBC.

But female comical characters in sitcoms can. For example, Marlene out of only fools. Always makes me chuckle

Edited by PalazioVecchio (13 Jun 2019 10.34pm) This is a first I actually agree with most of what Gervais says a man I find completely unfunny. I am not outraged by Jo Brand and I think Farage is milking it (geddit) for all it's worth. That said the BBC was wrong to broadcast it and having done so they and Brand should have apologised and moved on. It's the refusal of both to see it is not funny that is the problem. Last night I heard a victim of an acid attack who was pretty upset with them. Would Jo Brand have said just stab them? I think not because stabbing people is not funny neither is throwing acid in someone's face. And as other's have pointed out Jo Brand got Carol Thatcher sacked because she was offended, doesn't work the other way though does it Jo?

Agree pretty much with all of that but at least Victoria Wood was actually clever.

Seems like both camps are a bit touchy about freedom of speech for the other side, but not too bothered when it comes to ‘one of their own’. Snowflake Farage? Brand banished to Belmarsh?

Apparently Jo Brand has now apologised so that should be the end of the matter. Hopefully someone at the BBC will review why this was allowed through and remind the people who make that show to use their common-sense in future.

As I understand it Jo Brand is a Palace supporter and should be protected at all costs. The mere fact that she's not remotely funny, to the left of Stalin, sexist and deliberately chubby should not cloud our views of the stupid cow. We must protect our own, stick up for the old red and blue, link arms and cry rejoice. So leave the cretin alone, pick on someone else and relax knowing that it's people like her (well not actually like her obviously) that inform and educate us, keep us on the straight an' narrer, ever mindful of good taste and the needs of others.
