Andy Carroll on a free so take a punt on a play and pay contract. On his day and how Wilf and Townsend whip in crosses he would eat up the aerial options. Pay as you play means when injured no pay. Thoughts?

I would, but not for the reasons you list.

I was there when he scored 'that goal' against us at the Olympic stadium and it's the best goal I've ever seen. I was also there, front row, post just off to my left when Girould scored 'that goal' against us (personally, I think he threw a leg out knowing f*** all about it) and I can tell you.that Carrol is f***ing mustard on his day, not a fluke about it (unlike Girould, who incidentally just scored one of the best headers I've ever seen for Chelski)

I'd therefore take the punt on skill alone: we've got benkkers at the moment who's a head on a stick and we can't find him, nor do we play to his strengths. Would Carrol fair better?

I can see your logic but I think he's past his best. What you save on one hand you lose on another, and there's the possibility of him just being deadwood. Better to look to longer term options who can bed in and produce season after season.

Yeah, on balance I agree. I think Wickham is a talented footballer, but why risk the salary to put someone on the medical table?

Him and wickham, great partnership... in the medical room.

and let's be honest, we are hardly known for our whipping crosses otherwise benteke would be banging them in.

Of the talented but injury prone and costly (wages) strikers I'd rather go with Sturridge or Welbeck.

When not in the treatment room they'd give us something different up top. As someone mentioned we've already got the 'big lad' up top for when we whip in the crosses. Now that's not currently going too well, whether it's down to the player or the 'whipped crosses' or both.

No No and No. Benteke is good in the air and not super fast. Carroll is good in the air and slow. As others have pointed out neither will suit our current style of play with inverted wingers. If we sell Zaha and change our approach and put in more crosses ala Burnley style then who knows.

Wilf and andros don't whip crosses in, that's our issue when we play benteke,

He is a big strong lad, perhaps he could help with the re-build of the old stand.

Put a bid in for Wilshere at the same time. Good business.
