I would expect to see a lot of activity on contract renewing shortly, Luka with only a year left, then a mass of first team players with only two years left;

This bland acceptance that if a big team comes sniffing we lose players is total bollocks. We are an established PL team and if we want to keep players we simply price them at a level where no-one is interested, or if they are still interested then they became replaceable with the money. If a player wants to leave then that is s different story however Luka is our captain, Wilf is our hero and AWB is our youngster come good. As far as we truly know, none of them want to leave and therefore unless someone wants to pay: Zaha £100m they can all do one. All in my opinion of course but it’s time we started acting like an established PL club and not a patsy for the top 6.

I also don't think players will play any worse if they want to move as it would reduce their value. Look at how Liverpool hold out for fees, and at the other end of the table - Southampton. We act more like Grimsby.

You don’t price Luka for 50m with one year left on his contract, and then lose him for free at the end of the season if he doesn’t sign

We can't replace Luka with his transfer fee next season as he's out of contract and can go for nothing. If he won't sign a new contract then he needs to be sold and replaced this summer
