I am just amazed no one has started a thread about this as it seems like typical HOL material. I used to watch it from time to time out of morbid interest, here in Switzerland. I always asked myself where did he find those dregs of humanity that he hauled onto his show each day. Whether it was right to pull it I don't know, is it nanny state and political correctness gone to far?

I hope it is off the air forever. Seeing a load of ignorant feckless scumbags paraded in front of us for entertainment is so wrong on so many levels.

I imagine that most of us are at work when it was on so have never seen it. Interesting that they drop this show when Love Island is back for another series (also never seen) despite two suicides. There was a bloke on the news complaining about how he was treated by the show, which did seem awful, but then he said he had been on four times. Surely, once bitten...
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

This is the exact reason it's the best program of all time. A jumped up hypocrite bellowing at scumbags is absolutely genius. On a serious note, big Dave made a good point in the pub: think about all the lives he's saved through the rehab and counseling over 1500 shows. 1 scumbag tops himself and it's game over. Love island: 140 odd episodes, widespread online bullying, contestants suffer with depression and anxiety, no aftercare: 2 suicides. The difference? Live Island is the most watched terrestrial show. (advertising money).

I only ever saw part of one episode. It reminded me of nothing more than than the tales of how the rich would go to view the inmates of Bedlam for entertainment.

Except it's unlikely that the inmates of Bedlam consented to being made a spectacle of. Also, the Kyle show audience tended (generally) to be made up of people who weren't rich ie of people of the same ilk as the participants. Apart from that, it's a great analogy.

They are notoriously unreliable and condemned the guy as a cheat, which then led to the end of his relationship, and we know the rest. We are left with the possibility that a duff result taken as gospel resulted in someone topping himself. Though, of course as you say all of these reality TV shows are just voyeuristic, amoral money spinners.

Programmes like this are made to demonise the poor so whatever they say doesn't count ie Brexit ect.
