Is it my imagination , or is it when 100 humans die in a terrorist incident in a poor country .... it's like the news story makes a much smaller splash than, say, 100 Londoners or New Yorkers ? Why Is that ?
And may the ideologues , who brainwashed these stupid terrorists , all rot in hell. Edited by PalazioVecchio (21 Apr 2019 9.52am)

Its nothing sinister it's just self interest. Something happens in your street you want to know about it if it's a thousand miles away it's no less important but we don't have the time to mourn every loss or tragedy around the world and the papers reflect that. In this case I do have an interest because a friends son is shortly going on a school trip to Sri Lanka so I wonder what he's parents are thinking this morning and whether the school will cancel the trip. Anyway my thought are with the families of the bereaved.

Edited by PalazioVecchio (21 Apr 2019 9.52am) I echo these sentiments whilst adding that those who carried out this attack also need to rot in hell.Shocking news. Thoughts go out to all those affected by this dreadful attack. Would just like to add that my daughter and husband visited Sri Lanka last year and stayed in the Shangri-La hotel.

A 25 year civil war, hundreds of thousands murdered and raped, human rights abuses and genocide which only wrapped up (officially) in 2009? It's the sort of "lovely place" morons go on their honeymoon as it's dirt cheap, not realising they're a c***'s hair away from being massacred.

It's only been ten years since said civil war was ended and the people who commited most of the atrocities are still in power. It boggles the mind that people would consider going to that tinderkeg. Lucky escape me thinks.

Where there isn't a homogeneous population, eventually there will be sectarian violence. Not a nice reality or anything we want, but if people haven't learnt this as an ad hoc rule by now....they have learning issues.
