Ive been viewing, and occasionally been posting topics on this forum for many years and as I get older I must admit to memory failure at times, but one thing i have noticed is the common theme that has been a regular topic or comment, for many, which is regular criticism of our managers.
This in my memory goes back years to the days of Neil Warnock/Peter Taylor/ Iain Dowie from memory.
Before then I didnt use computers.(Parish is also an object of negativity)
Yes I agree its what forums are for but,you know what,I think Roy has done an excellent job to keep us in the 'First tier' of English football.I have spent most of the years I have supported Palace watching us in the lower divisions.
I do wonder whether many of those who criticise his management are also in the habit of attacking others in authority positions outside of football.
It can be quite addictive!
Just a thought.

RH for me has and is doing a brilliant job, today we played one of the best sides in the world so get OFF his back.

I have attacked many in positions of authority over the years especially those who have somehow found themselves in such positions more by luck than anyones good judgment .
I do think Roy has been great for our club though .A stable and calm man who has steadied the ship that could quite easily have fallen apart after the de Boer fiasco .
I would remind detractors of what happened to Stoke City whos fans demanded more expansive football after about the same number of years of 'boring' premiership football .
Ill take boring thanks .

There was a French rugby coach, might have been Lievremont, who came out after they’d been well beaten and said “do you think I told them to play like that?” A lot of sports coaches and managers will have empathised with him.

Progress in life very often comes down to luck. Why should someone in authority through good fortune be open to your attacks? I don't understand your point.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Yep all good comments I feel.

As has been said, this is what forums are for and so that's fine but I appreciate the fact that many recognise the reality that teams like Palace live with in this division.

We are lucky to have a manager like Hodgeson and just because he isn't a miracle worker or very imaginative doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve accolades for the sterling job he has done.

We are a couple of signings and retentions away from moving away from lower mid table to top ten.

Dunno where you're getting this from. Seems to me that the majority on here blindly defend Hodgeson to the point of personal embarrassment. The few amongst us who show dissatisfaction quickly get insulted off the thread.

Another Roy Hodgson thread.

We were expected to stay up.
Roy has kept us up.
He's met the minimum expectation of him this season.
He's average at best.
He's shown a lack of ambition. He'd rather a narrow defeat than to role the dice to try and win a game.

Players and fans are fed up.

Let's say thank you and let him go over summer.

Yes, let's. Sets up to have no ambition at all and just to limit the score but still concedes 3 and give up enough chances to be 6 down.

the myth that we are playing well just cause we sat back and had no wish to attack at all, thereby forcing City to open us up with ease is just laughable. Shows that people don't actually watch the game. No attempt to adapt to them having 3-5 players in between the lines all game, no pressure on the man in the ball making it easy for them to find said players btl, no attempt to support Benteke who was our one outball to relieve pressure and start counters, no creativity, subs too late

he gets away with absolute murder does Roy. But at least we only conceded 3 while killing the atmosphere, not giving City a thing to worry about when it is clear they panic when their rhythm is disrupted and they can't just go through the rehearsed patterns for 90 mins and have to defend. What a guy.

If you can't moan on a forum then you can't moan anywhere.

But I certainly think that holistically he's done a good job keeping us up.

But if we lose Zaha and Wan-Bisakka next season could be beyond him.....mind you....why he puts up with the stress of being a football manager at his age I've no idea.

RH has got things wrong this season but I don't think he did much wrong today. I'll be happy if he stays another season.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

That’s my take. We are close to being a top 10 side, but not quite there.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
