11 points clear of Cardiff ( with excellent goal-difference). you heard it here. We may refrain from stress attacks until next August.

What is our points total per season since we been up this time. Seems strange to be talking about this with so many games to go.

As I understand it a few decades ago when the premier league had just begun, back in the hazy mists of time, we had a similar margin on a team by the name of "Oldham". But many results went against us, and we ended up going down right at the death of the season..... Can anyone really say we're safe after such a traumatic and chastening experience. It is surely incumbent upon the older generation of palace fans (not me) to educate the rest of us about Oldham and remind us we are never safe until the final whistle blows to signify the end of the last game which would guarantee us mathematical safety. #neverforgetoldham Edited by FairweatherEagle (06 Apr 2019 8.52pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The number 11' by bexleydave 11th win today and pretty much safe. Teams that win 11 games normally stay up...we didn't in 94 but that was a longer season as I recall. I wonder how many of us start the season thinking that something little better than one win every four games will do us nicely. Seems a rather depressing stat. Also an 11th penalty for Lucas today. Given he has nailed ten of them, perhaps the good folk of this parish who suggested he should relinquish the spot kicks after his one miss early on ought to reassess. The man has nerves of steel and is the closest thing to Ray Stewart or Le Tissier we've ever had from the penalty spot.

Snowballs chance in hell of us going down. Even if we lose every game by 3 goals and Cardiff turn into Barcelona.

There was Sheffield United between us and Oldham. Both teams got 9 points from their last three games. With three games left: Leeds 48 finished with 51 Apart from one spell we were poor all season.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

I'd say a snowball has a far higher chance of surviving nice and chilly in hell than Cardiff have of turning into Barcelona.
