It’s really sad to read Danny Rose’s comments after the abuse all the black players received in Monte negro recently.. Compare his future resignation to what Sterling is up to and there is no comparison.

It isn’t surprising from that part of Europe or Eastern Europe and how do you expect stewards to deal with hundreds or thousands of people chanting or mimicking monkeys or apes? Chuck them out one by one?

Chuck them out one by one? They have to start somewhere. So maybe don’t chuck out everyone but at least the more vociferous. Like here, it will take years but it is a mixture of understanding, education, respect and actions that will reduce it just like it is doing here.

How do you decide who are the ‘more vociferous’ and how do you go into a crowd like that and remove them? And what if there’s dozens or hundreds at equal volume? I’m not sure what this request for ‘education’ on racism is and what we had on it here in Britain. I don’t remember any. For several reasons it fizzled out. The one part of your post which is realistic is that it’ll take years. The rest is easy to type but not reality unfortunately, but there’s been others on this thread too.

Racist abuse from spectators seems to be in the past at Palace but unfortunately we seem to have a problem with staff as last week the Development Squad coach was fired for racist comments and we have already had a high profile case with Iain Moody that did us no good at all

As Stirlingsays says, interdependence goes a long way to improving things, as does time, which he didn’t agree with, but is a factor, going by how things improved a lot in decades past. This is the football industry and often won’t have very intelligent people in it. That will improve as they move on and younger people without such prejudices or habits of putting their foot in their mouth when unnecessary or because they can’t think of anything else that’s funny up in front of the crowd as squad jester. Well I would think so. These cases now come from simple people with some sense of power and is an unwelcome for many sign that there is an undercurrent of racism in many places that still takes time to improve. Who would’ve thought it?

Maybe that might be worth knowing, or not.

Careful what you say, the thought police are out there......it used to be only the Soviet union that ensured no one uttered an unapproved thought. Not anymore.

Be interesting next time England play at Hampden Park. We always get more than enough abuse there.

Some forms of offence are deemed more important than others.
