Scott Walker has died. He was a wonderful singer who went on to produce some very strange experimental albums. It’s claimed that in the 60s the Walker Brothers were receiving more fan mail than the Beatles.

Liked some of his solo material but the later 'Avante Garde' stuff was awful.

It was an interesting programme and it was easier to watch him creating and explaining the weirder stuff than to listen to it. Fair play to him - he could have earned a lot more by singing his ballads or Jacques Brel inspired songs.

My brother was a huge fan. We had some Scott playing at his funeral last year. Doubtless the two of them will have much to discuss now. RIP

I think that although they were called the Walker Brothers they weren't related. Not only were they not related but they weren't called Walker either.

He will have had no regrets and sadly the sun wont shine anymore for him. My all time favorite male singer ( early stuff later ? )

His first 4 solo albums are brilliant , melancholy , baudy , superb string arrangements , Scott really was the cool part of the 60's for me
interviewer " iggy , do you think you influenced anybody?" |

Sad news. I had been listening to Scott 4 quite a lot recently. Seemed like a very interesting character who was a genuine artist not letting fame and in later years accessible music get in the way of his intentions. Good on him. Farmer in the City is an absolute monster of a song. On a side note recently when I've listened to this I always picture our 'Roy' swaggering about the place with a big grin on his face after something's gone his way. Let's hope it's playing in his office after a home win on Saturday. RIP Scott
