Would the country be any the worse off if all MPs were booted out and another 650 appointed? All we have currently are a bunch of self interested nobodies whose only concern is making the other parties look bad. Ideology trumping common sense. Any important debate degenerates into a racket of cat calling and backbiting. Nothing they do is for the good of the country but purely out of expediency. Their so called principles can go through 180 degree turns at the drop of a hat when they think they have something to gain. Their reaction to the expenses scandal shows how they think of the rest of us.

Brexit is doing a great job of keeping them busy and not meddling in the affairs of the country. The debates always end up in a squable as they are all egomaniacs who no nothing about anything. Best try and prevent them from getting involve in decision making as they only mess it up. If we replace them all with a new bunch it would crate more chaos. I think we should be very careful to stay away from ideological PM's. They are the worst kind of politician.

Hey that's my line.

I have been arguing that for a few years now. Import 600 Eastern European MPs pay them half the salary and I bet they will work a darn sight harder. Then let's see how many of the current lot feel.

Democracy originally started in Athens when the public gathered listened to whoever wanted to speak and then voted. I kinda like your idea not sure it is practical but the problem with the current lot is most know they are safe. Shave a monkey pin a rosette on it etc.

I like the US system voters are more demanding "what have you done for me lately?" Apart from the very committed most people will vote for the best person so on election day with multiple elections happening many will vote for both parties from President down to dog catcher depending on how they feel about that politician.

If a few more MPs in safe seats felt under threat from the voters they might put a shift in and listen to their constituents.
