Sky reporting that from next season if a penalty is parried by the keeper or hits the post it’ll be a goal kick. Probably to save time for VAR - there won’t be any encroachment to check if players don’t have follow ups to worry about.

They’re also saying that a subbed player doesn’t have to go off at the halfway line but at the closest point. Could get interesting if he’s being taken off for being useless then has to walk past stands full of opposing fans.

Gives me time to go the toilet, order a pint and drink it when I fancy.

What I don't like about this is you'd have never seen the Watford V Leicester play off final crazy ending with this rule in place, and that was one of the most insane moments of Football this decade.

Wonder if this means the pitch markings will change - no need for the D anymore.

What if the keeper saves it and it goes wide or over? Is it still a corner?

I've always liked the idea that the fouled person or the last person to kick the ball for a handball decision should take the penalty.

I can see that the penalty rule change could be fair, in the event that a pen is awarded when the player is going away from goal, or has no real chance of scoring.

Also, will you still be able to do the "roll the ball a couple of inches, and your mate runs in and tucks it away" penalty?
